Books That Bring Value

This section is not meant to be an exhaustive list, but a fan-favorite list.  The first three are three of my favorite, and yes I have read two of them over again and again.  The first one is a true reference for contracts and the second one is a true reference for negotiation skills - I highly recommend both, especially for our new padawan learners (for you Star Wars fans).  My approach to the book reviews will be if I have read them I will provide my personal review and maybe a ChatGPT review.  If have notes and they come recommended highly by others - I will try to get them to write the review, but if alas my negotiation skills are lacking ChatGPT will get the work if I don't have time.

Tech Contracts | by David W Tollen (U.C. Berkley Contracts Professor)

ChatGPT Summary:

Published by the American Bar Association, "The Tech Contracts Handbook: Cloud Computing Agreements, Software Licenses, and Other IT Contracts for Lawyers and Businesspeople" by David W. Tollen is a comprehensive guide to drafting and negotiating technology contracts.

One of the strengths of this book is its practical approach. The author provides clear, step-by-step guidance on how to draft and negotiate a variety of technology contracts, including cloud computing agreements and software licenses. The book also includes a wealth of sample clauses and contract language, which can be a valuable resource for attorneys and other professionals.

In addition to its practical focus, the book also does a good job of explaining the legal principles and concepts that underlie technology contracts. The author clearly explains the key legal issues that need to be considered when drafting and negotiating these agreements and provides useful insights on how to navigate complex legal issues.

Overall, "The Tech Contracts Handbook" is an excellent resource for anyone who works with technology contracts. It is well-written, easy to understand, and packed with valuable information and practical guidance. Whether you are an attorney, a businessperson, or a technologist, this book is a must-read if you want to understand how to effectively negotiate and draft technology contracts.
